Latest Product Follows Recent Introduction of "XM Roady"

By , About.com Guide

XM has selected Terk Technologies, the leading aftermarket satellite-radio-antenna manufacturer, to distribute XMCommander to retailers nationwide.

XMCommander (MSRP: $159.99) is a total, all-in-one package, featuring a compact controller with display screen, an ultra-thin XM Micro Antenna, a full-function remote control, and a small, hide-away tuner box. The XMCommander works with all AM/FM car stereos regardless of make, brand, or year. The controller is sized and styled tointegrate with the dashboard of most vehicles, including high-end luxury cars.

XMCommander offers the new XM feature TuneSelect(TM), which automatically alerts listeners when a favorite song is playing on any of XM's 101 radio channels. The unit allows the listener to preview channels before selecting.

It has a two-line display, direct-channel entry and 30 channel pre-sets, and scan-and-jump features. It also has RCA line outputs for optional direct connect.

"XMCommander represents another state-of-the-art product configuration for XM Radio," said Robert Acker, XM Vice President of Product Development and Planning. "This product will satisfy satellite radio consumers' desire for an all-in-one, full-feature solution that can be easily integrated with the dashboard without replacing the existing car stereo."

XMCommander is currently shipping to retail stores and will be available at the end of this month. The debut of the XMCommander follows the recent arrival of the Delphi XM Roady receiver, the first complete satellite radio solution for vehicles for under $120.
