July 8, 2003

Neil Rogers from WQAM, 560 AM, in Miami, learned not to believe everything you read online. The talk-show host read at a website that Florida Congresswoman, Katherine Harris, had been killed in a plane crash and went on the air and said, "Katherine Harris is dead!". Oops.  He was wrong and refused to comment to reporters after the gaff.

July 9, 2003

Dennis Jordan, known as "T Bone" on 98.9 The Rock, Kansas City, was arrested for public nudity and disorderly conduct.  T Bone taped 100 Powerball tickets to his body and stood along the highway, allowing listeners to take them off him.  By the time the cops arrived, he was only covered by about 15 tickets.

July 19, 2003

"Aaron the Saint" from Urban-formatted WBLX-FM in Mobile, Alabama was charged with rape. He was charged with having an 11 month long sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl.  The station's General Manager said he would be taking "some time off". Some Saint.

Tom Leykis continued to defend his decision to name the the accuser in the Kobe Bryant sexual assault case.  He said he would not apologize.

August 1, 2003

Rush Limbaugh hit the 15-year milestone with his daily talk show. Whether you agree with his politics or not, the conservative entertainer really did set a new standard for talk shows and practically saved AM Radio.

August 2, 2003

An Albany, New York DJ known as "Air Alert" was sentenced to 17 years in prison for shooting and slashing a Radio rival.  The incident occurred outside a Hip-Hop Radio station, WAJZ-FM.

October 1, 2003

Rush Limbaugh resigned from ESPN after not being able to escape a swell of controversy caused bv alleged racial comments he made about quarterback Donovan Mcnabb.

October 8, 2003

Programming gurus at England's Radio 1 annouce plans to change hosts on the 'Breakfast Show' beginning in January. Chris Moyles will replace Sara Cox in hopes of resurrecting sagging ratings.

October 10, 2003

Before leaving the air, syndicated host, Rush Limbaugh, admitted to his audience that he was addicted to pain-killers.

November 12, 2003

Classic Rocker WCHR-FM, Manahawkin, New Jersey, bans Jethro Tull from its playlist after group leader, Ian Anderson, makes anti-American remarks.

November 22, 2003

Longtime Cleveland Radio morning personality, John Lanigan, was arrested and booked for drunk driving after refusing a breathalyzer test following a minor traffic accident.  Lanigan posted personal bond.  No comment from his employer, WMJI-FM, a '60s and '70s oldies station.

December 1, 2003

John Praise, the morning guy at WBAB, 102.3 FM, announced to his listeners that "there is no Santa Claus". Naturally, some people were pretty upset - mostly parents of young children who might have heard it. After a couple of days of angry complaints, the station has finally apologized.
