In Yokahama, Japan, a man threatened via emails to "blow up" a Radio station, FM Yokahama, because it did not play his favorite songs. He was arrested for intimidation.

May 23, 2003

A Garden Grove, California woman and mother of six went to jail for playing her radio too loud. Shawna Enyart was tossed in the pokey for 10 days because she refused to lower the volume, which neighbors say was so loud it was rattling their windows.

May 31, 2003

Wes Carroll from WBFA-FM, Columbus, Ohio, announced he would set a world record for hugging by hugging at least 1,000 people in a 24-hour period. He was also raising money for the Children's Miracle Network.

June 6, 2003

Robert Gillet from CJMF-FM 93, Quebec City(the top-rated morning man in that city) faced a preliminary hearing after being accused of paying teenage prostitutes for sex. He had taken a leave of absence from his job several months earlier to deal with the charges.

Seattle Rock station, KZOK-FM, sponsored The Ugliest Yard In Puget Sound contest. The winner, Chuck Pillon, received a $750 gift certificate to a garden supply company for the junk in his yard.

Enrique Santos and Joe Ferrero from WXDJ-FM 95.7, a Spanish-language "Salsa" formatted Radiostation in Miami, placed a prank phone call to Cuban dictator, Fideo Castro posing as Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Castro bought it lock, stock and barrel.

July 1, 2003

Craig Reynolds, a DJ from WKLW, Paintsville, Kentucky, pleaded guilty of possessing child pornography. He quit his job a few months prior to the plea.

In Albany, New York, a man was convicted of trying toelectrocute his girlfriend by throwing a radio and hairdryer into her bubble bath. A circuit breaker saved her life. He faced up to 3 years in prison.

July 6, 2003

WQZY-FM's 7th Annual Redneck Games took place. 12,000 people showed up for the Atlanta Radio station's events such as "bobbin' for pigs feat", "hubcap hurling" and "belly flopping into mud".
