Australia's high paid female Radio personality, Wendy Harmer is resigning. Harmer, part of the morning show at 2DAY FM was earning $1.7 million dollars-a-year. Harmer has decided to pass the Breakfast baton to good friend, Judith Lucy.
Talking about her decision to hand breakfast over to Judith, Wendy said “Every now and again you get that perfect moment when you get what you wish for. After 11 years with 2DayFM, I had started to think that the time had come to get on with the things I have been wanting to do.
Michael Anderson, CEO of Austereo said “When Wendy came to us and said that after 11 years at the top, all the changes in the team, and the various things on her plate she wanted to have a big talk about next year, it made sense. And it made even more sense to both of us when we started talking about what a brand new breakfast team could look like.
All the talk led to Judith Lucy being the one. Wendy Harmer said “I couldn’t think of anyone better than Judith take over Breakfast. Word is there will be some other new faces over her breakfast table as well. I will get it out of her over lunch today and spill the beans in the coming days.”
Paying tribute to Wendy, Michael Anderson said “Wendy’s has had one of the most successful radio careers ever in this country, in arguably the toughest timeslot on radio in perhaps the most competitive of all Australian cities.”
Wendy’s last Breakfast Show with the Crew will be on November 28, at the conclusion of the 2003 radio season.
