Dateline: 02/09/04

By , About.com Guide

The Abc6.com website is reporting a radio sportscaster from the University of Rhode Island managed to put police on high alert after leaving a metal suitcase containing his radio gear on the team bus after a game against La Salle last week.

When no one stepped forth to immediately claim it , bus personnel became alarmed at the seemingly abandoned metal case.

They called in the Philadelphia police who became suspicious of its wires so they - - - blew it up.

The sportscaster, Steve McDonald, didn't realize his equipment was even left behind until he arrived back home in Rhode Island.

McDonald says much of the equipment actually survived the blast.
