The product is the Nokia 7700 and it can not only receive FM radio signals but also has the capability of receiving text and graphics sent by the radio station.
The Register says, "If a radio station is playing a number by Finnish band The Rasmus, then up on screen there might be an image of the band's singer Lauri Ylönen, and the name of the song or its current chart listing."
Kiss FM in Helsinki is helping to test Visual Radio.
The Register article also says the thinking now is that Visual Radio listeners would pay a premium for the visual content, should they wish to have access to it with the Nokia 7700.
Full test transmissions are scheduled to begin this Fall in Helsinki and possibly other areas of Finland.
