Man Intercepts Calls To Radio Station - Lures Teenager

Dateline: 1/23/04

AJC.com is reporting a bizarre crime in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, where a radio station and its listeners were taken advantage of by a novel but insidious ruse.

Apparently a man was somehow intercepting phone calls to radio station WIOQ-FM (Q-102) and diverting him to his own telephone. He was then acting as if he were the DJ, offering prizes and making other false representations.

Authorities say the man lured a 17-year-old teenage girl to south Philadelphia with the promise of free tickets to an event and then allegedly held her against her will as well as assaulted her.

The victim was eventually released. Police have issued a warrant for the perpetrator's arrest.
