Turntable App Plays Digital Files as Vinyl Records - Like Radio Used To

Got a note this week to look at the Turnplay App for iPad. In recent years the older concept of vinyl as a music storage medium has been getting a second look by aficianados, hobbyists, and vintage audiophiles. I've been in radio long enough to have observed the medium of choice in a studio change from vinyl to tape to CD to digital. So, I took have a soft spot in my heart for the vinyl of yesterday. That's why I was amazed when I download this app and saw how incredibly it replicates the look and movements of an older turntable. But, it plays your digital music files! It might be a great stocking stuff for someone with an iPad or someone who still covets vinyl. Just $1.99 but as I write this, only 99 cents. (Screenshot: itunes.apple.com)

Turnplay supports the Retina Display and works with iPad or iPad Mini. The turntable spins at 33 RPM or 45. It's amazing to watch and play with for one reason only: it's just fun.

Available at the App Store.
