John, Ken, KFI-AM Meet with Critics Over Whitney Remarks

A coalition of Blacks in radio broadcasting, media and business met Monday with KFI-AM 640's station management and show hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou of the John and Ken Show to discuss their characterization of Whitney Houston as a "crack ho" three days following the singer's death. Jasyne Cannick, a journalist and communications strategist presented this analysis: ""KFI has 14 shows, and 13 of them are hosted by white males. There are no blacks in their newsroom. This fosters an environment where negative comments can happen. And they are not living up to [parent company] Clear Channel's statement of a commitment to diversity."

After a 90 minute meeting, KFI-AM management agreed to get back to the coalition within 72 hours with a plan to address their concerns.

“Diversity” is a word that is so overused!!!! “Diversity”…..Diversity in what?? The programming?? The hosts?? The newstaff?? Look, if KFI could get the ratings with a black host, then fine, hire a black host. But they have tried, and it FAILED!!! KFI and Clear Channel are a PRIVATE entity and can hire, or fire who the hell they want!!!
All these “community leaders” crying for this or that are just stupid. Sorry folks, but John and Ken speak the TRUTH and sometimes the TRUTH hurts!!! Whitney was a drug addicted crack ho, the “undocumented” are in fact ILLEGAL, and a lot of the TSA agents are in fact fat and black!!!
So get over it already!!! If you don’t like what’s being said, the don’t listen!!!!

Oh give me a BREAK!!! Whitney was just another screwed up, albeit very talented celebrity. If she was white, they probably would have said similar things. But because she’s black, suddenly it takes on a racial overtone.

Jasyne obviously didn’t do her homework which doesn’t surprise me. KFI did have a black talk show host named Charles Payne. His show tanked and the ratings were poor. If more Afro-Americans were talented enough and could draw an audience they would be hired. Please don’t play the race card by taking advantage of John & Ken’s situation. It’s ignorant and stupid on your part.

Ho is short for “whore.” In what sense was Whitney Houston a whore? Addictions? Sure. But would the same hosts have called her a ho if she were white? C’mon…
