Sometimes, radio people are known for their shocking or tasteless actions. After all, it is a ratings-driven business where being the center-of-attention can usually only be helpful. (Right: Steve Penk, 96.2 FM, Screenshot: www.therevolution962.com)

UK deejay, Steve Penk, the morning guy from 96.2FM The Revolution, is being criticized for answering several requests for the song "Jump" by Van Halen "...while police were trying to talk down a suicidal woman on a motorway bridge," reports The Sun.

"Poor taste" said one representative from a mental health charity; Lack of compassion" said some good Samaritans; "Irresponsible" another listener chimed in.

As for Penk himself? "I don't regret playing it for a minute."

96.2 The Revolution comes out of North East Manchester, England. You can listen live at www.therevolution962.com

I’m not sure why you posted the online address for his station. If I was predisposed to listen to morning radio from the UK (and, really, what kind of nut would I be then?), this story would have taken his station right off my list, anyway. We have far more than enough callous shock-jocks here in the good ol’ USofA without reaching out to our good friends from across the sea to borrow theirs.
