Thursday November 5, 2009
SIRIUS XM Radio will offer five commercial-free holiday music channels this Christmas and Hanukkah season. Beginning November 16 subscribers can hear contemporary music and traditional favorites on "Holly" (SIRIUS channel 3 and XM channel 23) and traditional holiday recordings from the 1940s through 1960s on "Holiday Traditions" (SIRIUS channel 4 and XM channel 4). Then, December 7 three more channels launch:

"Holiday Pops" (SIRIUS channel 79 and XM channel 77) will feature classical Christmas carols.

"Country Christmas" (SIRIUS channel 62 and XM channel 10) will offer a range of country selections.

"Radio Hanukkah" (SIRIUS channel 76 and XM channel 28) will air Hanukkah music and segments on Jewish culture.

(2) Andrea says:

They get later and later every year with it. Soon it wont be worth having XM if they keep crapping up on us.

(4) Jeanean says:

I don’t know about anyone else, but the songs played on the “Traditional” Christmas channel just plain suck! I mean they are playing music from when my grandparents were kids, and they are 93 years old! And the other Holiday channel is playing only things from the 2000’s. Come one people I am needing the good stuff! Let’s get it together

Are these channels not available on the iPhone app?

(6) Lori says:

Start earlier!!!!

(7) Shelley says:

It’s November 19th and XM 23 is not playing Christmas music. Bummer. I have a party here tonight. I miss mt Direct TV music, they started Christmas music Nov 1st.

(8) WT says:

Jeanean.

You hit on the head. XM is missing the Eagles, Peter, Paul, and Mary, New Song, Manheim, and many other groups that bridge the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s. Even Burl Ives has been left out??

Perhaps a holiday and a half station would be useful, huh?

(9) dave says:

This year, every other song on XM Holly, if not every 3 out of 4 songs, is an American Idol winner or contestant or the like (like Susan Boyle). Management at XM has destroyed a fantastic station, and one of the main reason it seems many people stay (or at least stayed) with XM. This is completely infuriating.

(10) Sharon says:

Love the Traditional Christmas Music. Look forward to it every year. These are “Classic” songs. Hearing them just puts me in the Holiday Spirit to Bake, Clean and Prepare for the Holidays and Family Gathering. Thank you and Keep up the Great Work and Music :-)

(11) Greg says:

The Traditional Music this year is from the 40’s -60’s. HURRAY!!! All that complaining last year must have done some good. Just need more of it so it does seem like it’s repeating.

For those that have a different idea of Traditional ie. 70’s, 80’s, Rock groups, get a different channel! We do not want these types of music mixed together! Last year they played a Nate King Cole and the next song might have been Hip Hop! We didn’t partake of any of last years offerings after the first few minutes of that crap.

(12) Tee says:

All I want for Christmas is Bing Crosby. And if it is a Crosby song, and he’s not singing it, it better be Harry Connick. There are maybe 5 songs since the 50s worth listening to and I think they are all Beatles. Btw, Manheim Steamroller SUCKS!

December 5, 2009 at 5:59 pm
(13) Anna says:

Start the Christmas Music on Dec. 20th and end it on Dec. 26th Please!
We like the music of the 40th

(14) Thomas Johnson says:

I am angry that Escape channel has been temporarily pushed aside for a holiday music channel. This is the only channel that offers the easy listening type of music I like whereas there are many other channels that play music that is similar to each other and there would be very little inconvenience to their listeners.

December 9, 2009 at 7:47 pm
(15) Stanlee says:

I think giving a fair shake to everyone during the holiday season should be with music and songs for other relegions and nationalities to enjoy.

December 10, 2009 at 3:10 am
(16) Bill says:

Well, I would love to listen to these channels on my music player, but for the 3rd time this year I have had a radio fail on me…Complete crap. I can only listen to these on the internet right now. I thought delphi was bad for customer service…Pioneer even worse. Took 2 days first time I contacted them…they requested serial number and recipet…got that back to them in 2 days (had to find reciept) and now has been 4 days and not a word yet. By the time I get a new radio these channels will be gone…as will I as a customer if I can’t get a good radio.

(17) john says:

The holiday music is fine, but why take away the two stations I love, Escape and Heart. Leave my music alone or use another station besides escape. It is the only reason I have XM radio.

December 11, 2009 at 5:03 pm
(18) will says:

Please try to incorporate some Jackson 5 and some of the soulful xmas music.

It is quite soothing on the ears

(19) Anne T. says:

I really love and appreciate XM channel 77 “Christmas Pops” To me, these classic choral pieces and instrumentals are what Christmas is all about. Having sung in achoir for years, I long to hear the choral music which abounds at this time of year. I especially LOVED hearing Benjamin Britten’s :Ceremony of Carols” on Thursday night. What a treat! Thank you for intelligent programming!

I love listening to your traditional holiday music on DirectTV Channel 801. I hope you will have it next year also.

(24) Janey says:

You know, people have also complained that Christmas music starts TOO EARLY. You can’t please everyone! But historically, Christmas stuff going on before Thanksgiving is TOO DARN EARLY!!!

December 25, 2009 at 7:25 pm
(25) Jackie says:

Love the nice Christmas songs, not the stupid ones like Grandma got runover by a reindeer. Great to have this option during the Holidays….
