SIRIUS XM Radio will offer five commercial-free holiday music channels this Christmas and Hanukkah season. Beginning November 16 subscribers can hear contemporary music and traditional favorites on "Holly" (SIRIUS channel 3 and XM channel 23) and traditional holiday recordings from the 1940s through 1960s on "Holiday Traditions" (SIRIUS channel 4 and XM channel 4). Then, December 7 three more channels launch:

"Holiday Pops" (SIRIUS channel 79 and XM channel 77) will feature classical Christmas carols.

"Country Christmas" (SIRIUS channel 62 and XM channel 10) will offer a range of country selections.

"Radio Hanukkah" (SIRIUS channel 76 and XM channel 28) will air Hanukkah music and segments on Jewish culture.

I wish they would start sooner with the Holiday music…I just love it!

November 16, 2009 at 4:34 pm
(2) Andrea says:

They get later and later every year with it. Soon it wont be worth having XM if they keep crapping up on us.

November 17, 2009 at 7:00 am
(3) Jim C says:

Last year they stopeed the Christmas music on Dec 26th. I hope they received complaints — I know I did. it should play till early january.

November 17, 2009 at 7:17 pm
(4) Jeanean says:

I don’t know about anyone else, but the songs played on the “Traditional” Christmas channel just plain suck! I mean they are playing music from when my grandparents were kids, and they are 93 years old! And the other Holiday channel is playing only things from the 2000′s. Come one people I am needing the good stuff! Let’s get it together

November 18, 2009 at 12:42 am
(5) Eric says:

Are these channels not available on the iPhone app?

November 19, 2009 at 7:53 am
(6) Lori says:

Start earlier!!!!

November 19, 2009 at 4:11 pm
(7) Shelley says:

It’s November 19th and XM 23 is not playing Christmas music. Bummer. I have a party here tonight. I miss mt Direct TV music, they started Christmas music Nov 1st.

November 20, 2009 at 7:13 pm
(8) WT says:

You hit on the head. XM is missing the Eagles, Peter, Paul, and Mary, New Song, Manheim, and many other groups that bridge the 40′s, 50′s, and 60′s. Even Burl Ives has been left out??

Perhaps a holiday and a half station would be useful, huh?

November 22, 2009 at 3:20 pm
(9) dave says:

This year, every other song on XM Holly, if not every 3 out of 4 songs, is an American Idol winner or contestant or the like (like Susan Boyle). Management at XM has destroyed a fantastic station, and one of the main reason it seems many people stay (or at least stayed) with XM. This is completely infuriating.

December 3, 2009 at 5:23 am
(10) Sharon says:

Love the Traditional Christmas Music. Look forward to it every year. These are “Classic” songs. Hearing them just puts me in the Holiday Spirit to Bake, Clean and Prepare for the Holidays and Family Gathering. Thank you and Keep up the Great Work and Music :-)

December 4, 2009 at 6:51 am
(11) Greg says:

The Traditional Music this year is from the 40′s -60′s. HURRAY!!! All that complaining last year must have done some good. Just need more of it so it does seem like it’s repeating.

For those that have a different idea of Traditional ie. 70′s, 80′s, Rock groups, get a different channel! We do not want these types of music mixed together! Last year they played a Nate King Cole and the next song might have been Hip Hop! We didn’t partake of any of last years offerings after the first few minutes of that crap.

December 5, 2009 at 11:28 am
(12) Tee says:

All I want for Christmas is Bing Crosby. And if it is a Crosby song, and he’s not singing it, it better be Harry Connick. There are maybe 5 songs since the 50s worth listening to and I think they are all Beatles. Btw, Manheim Steamroller SUCKS!

December 5, 2009 at 5:59 pm
(13) Anna says:

Start the Christmas Music on Dec. 20th and end it on Dec. 26th Please!
We like the music of the 40th

December 9, 2009 at 6:13 pm
(14) Thomas Johnson says:

I am angry that Escape channel has been temporarily pushed aside for a holiday music channel. This is the only channel that offers the easy listening type of music I like whereas there are many other channels that play music that is similar to each other and there would be very little inconvenience to their listeners.

December 9, 2009 at 7:47 pm
(15) Stanlee says:

I think giving a fair shake to everyone during the holiday season should be with music and songs for other relegions and nationalities to enjoy.

December 10, 2009 at 3:10 am
(16) Bill says:

Well, I would love to listen to these channels on my music player, but for the 3rd time this year I have had a radio fail on me…Complete crap. I can only listen to these on the internet right now. I thought delphi was bad for customer service…Pioneer even worse. Took 2 days first time I contacted them…they requested serial number and recipet…got that back to them in 2 days (had to find reciept) and now has been 4 days and not a word yet. By the time I get a new radio these channels will be gone…as will I as a customer if I can’t get a good radio.

December 11, 2009 at 5:17 am
(17) john says:

The holiday music is fine, but why take away the two stations I love, Escape and Heart. Leave my music alone or use another station besides escape. It is the only reason I have XM radio.

December 11, 2009 at 5:03 pm
(18) will says:

Please try to incorporate some Jackson 5 and some of the soulful xmas music.

It is quite soothing on the ears

December 11, 2009 at 9:56 pm
(19) Anne T. says:

I really love and appreciate XM channel 77 “Christmas Pops” To me, these classic choral pieces and instrumentals are what Christmas is all about. Having sung in achoir for years, I long to hear the choral music which abounds at this time of year. I especially LOVED hearing Benjamin Britten’s :Ceremony of Carols” on Thursday night. What a treat! Thank you for intelligent programming!

December 14, 2009 at 7:16 pm

(24) Janey says:

You know, people have also complained that Christmas music starts TOO EARLY. You can’t please everyone! But historically, Christmas stuff going on before Thanksgiving is TOO DARN EARLY!!!

December 25, 2009 at 7:25 pm
(25) Jackie says:

(29) Shane says:

I contacted xm 2 weeks ago asking when they would begin holiday programming, the reply email siad I would have an answer in 24 hours and I am still waiting. I have been a subscriber since 02 and Xm was once great and the holiday season was met with a lot of build up and holly begining Nov. 1st. It is obvious the xm listeners were forgotton during the merger and now it looks like holiday music did as well. I wish Aol radio would come out with satelite radio.

November 3, 2010 at 5:05 am
(30) Sandy Paulsen says:

I wish you would start Nov. 1.

November 7, 2010 at 10:48 am
(31) Karen says:

Just got off the phone with XM support. All I wanted to know what what channels would carry Christmas music and when they would start. First call on hold for 12 minutes, then disconnected unexpectedly. Second call held for 15 minutes, got a live body who put me on old for another 5 minutes. The only answer I got was that nothing has been set up for Christmas music by XM at this time. NOTHING. It’s November 7th and they have NO plan for holiday music yet??

November 8, 2010 at 11:14 am
(32) Nelson says:

That’s why you have a choice!!!..you don’t have to listen to traditional music!!!!

November 11, 2010 at 12:42 am
(33) TJ says:

I’m listening to 93.3 fm in southern new england. All Christmas all the time as of Nov 1st. Hey xm? Get with the program – you really STINK! And bring back The Strobe aka CHROME. Subscriber since 2001, and xm has really gone downhill. Not worth it!
Eminem has his own channel? Seriously?! WHY?

November 11, 2010 at 10:59 am
(34) Mike says:

I like “Holiday Traditions” just as it is. It is SUPPOSED to be the old, classic music. I must be a 93 year old grandpa then, because I like it! Actually, I’m only 38 but still, leave the classic Christmas music alone! I’ve had enough of the modern crap to last me forever!

November 11, 2010 at 12:30 pm
(35) Kathleen says:

Seriously Sirius!!! You need to being holiday music FAR earlier, especially for your tremendous business subscribers who play the music in the place of business. We are hosting a holiday event this weekend and must resort to assigning someone CD player rotation. Please consider starting earlier at least on ONE CHANNEL….the season really begins the first week of November.

November 11, 2010 at 3:17 pm
(36) Mark says:

Christmas is 12 days, so the music should not stop the day after Christmas Day! At least play it until 12 AM, January 2!

November 14, 2010 at 10:12 am
(37) Jeremy says:

Just got off the phone with XM support (sounds like in India). November 15 is the beginning of Christmas programming on channels 23 and 4. December 1 is Holiday Pops on 77 and December 10 is a Country Christmas on channel 10. December 31 till January 1 is New Year’s music on 23. Hope this helps.

November 15, 2010 at 10:10 pm
(38) guessimagrinch says:

Those of you who are asking for more Christmas music are pretty selfish. It’s just a holiday, not a season. Many people don’t care to have music shoved at them like that. Also, consider that the more Christmas songs are played, the more people get bored of it and the general idea of Christmas is diluted.

If you’re using the Christmas broadcasts for business, consider that broadcast of XM for business purposes is illegal — you need to get a special license for that.

November 18, 2010 at 2:56 pm
(39) Duster says:

WOW….. Scrooge…. Grinch….. DEMON

November 18, 2010 at 11:59 pm
(40) Jim Brown says:

Can we have the music last until 12AM Jan.2 ? That sudden drop of it immediately after Christmas leaves one hanging. It is a good thing I have Christmas CDs!

November 19, 2010 at 9:20 am
(41) Laura says:

No christmas music yet and it is the 19th.

November 22, 2010 at 1:21 pm
(42) Bridget says:

I love the Holiday Pops channel. I just love the beautiful choral Christmas music. I can’t wait for it to start and I really hope it lasts for a while after Christmas!

November 23, 2010 at 6:24 pm
(43) Tom says:

Before the merger, there was a channel called Special XMas – “For Your Dysfunctional Family Christmas” and it was HILARIOUS! The songs were the novelty Christmas songs – not the sugar coated stuff you get sick of hearing. Then the Sirius/XM merger happened and all the funny songs disappeared. I miss it a lot.

November 23, 2010 at 8:33 pm
(44) Holly says:

It seems they are playing 95% secular music this year-santa, snow or anything not really Jesus related. traditions used to have more of the traditional Christmas songs . Whoever is in charge must be non Christian.I might as well drop xm and go back to cds.

November 24, 2010 at 8:19 pm
(45) Monte says:

How about this, put all your favorite christmas music on an ipod or similar device and listen to what ever you like……..what a concept!!

November 30, 2010 at 10:58 pm
(46) Tina says:

If they do not put Christmas music on sooner.. i will just get rid of XM.. i am not happy!

December 1, 2010 at 7:48 am
(47) rodney dill says:

The xmas music selection so far this year sucks. Local FM stations that play Xmas all month so far win out. When they add the additional 3 December 7th, maybe it will get better.

December 1, 2010 at 11:12 am
(48) Mary says:

I LOVE XM radio! I LOVE the Holiday music offered! There are many choices, and I hope they keep up the good work! THANKS XM!

December 3, 2010 at 8:28 pm
(49) bezelbub says:

i don’t know about you guys, but i think christmas should be 2 days. And my birthday should be 4 days. And while we’re at it, let’s wish that anyone cared what you might think or say. Is anybody with me?

December 8, 2010 at 2:31 pm
(50) Patty McCarrick says:

I absolutely hate the two Christmas stations being played. Even my 17 y/o daughter doesn’t like the music. Go back to the way it was a couple of years ago. Christmas is the only time of the year when I actually listen to the radio instead of sirius. Their song selections are sooo much better. Go back to the way it used to be, please!!!!!!

December 10, 2010 at 8:13 pm
(51) bill says:

The first time I listen to XM xmas was a few years ago when they had goofy xmas, it was great.
THEY PLAYED this hawain xmas song a million times, yet

I really love Holiday Traditions XM 4,
it reminds me of Christmas when i was a child.
Good Stuff !!

December 21, 2010 at 2:12 pm
(53) Tom L says:

The music programming in general has sucked since Sirius took over. And yeah, probably the biggest proof of that is the Christmas channels.

They not only crippled them, by shortening their time on air, but they even restrict access to some online! Which we pay EXTRA for now!

And yes, you are all correct, the Traditional channel plays music from the turn of the century and the original, once great Holly is playing crap like Sponge Bob!

Who the hell is programming over there!! I called an complained last year, even got a free year of online.

But to be honest, I don’t even care to complain any more. My next step is to just cancel my account.

Not sound like a fan boy, but to be honest, the only thing keeping my subscription at this point is 202. Everything else is gone, and it is getting difficult to justify the ever increasing expense just to listen to one radio show.

Seriously, Sirius, XM was way better before you came along. Cut lose the real dead wait and put things back the way they were before you start hemorrhaging subs.

(59) Deb says:

Hey,I am not hearing the holiday music from the 1940′s to the 1960′s. I thought it was supposed to start on the 16th. Those are the best versions and need to be played on the air to keep those traditions going. I don’t need to hear a hip hop version of “Oh Holy Child”.

November 19, 2011 at 11:40 pm
(60) gary says:

What ever happened to special x-mas?
That channel played songs like little hooters girl
To the tune of little drummer boy,
porn santa, the night santa went crazy,
You know something a little different

There is a great amought of new age type christmas music on the Windomhill label I think alot of listeners would enjoy, also on the GRP label, there is so much available its hard to understand why there is repetative music. Ingeneral not bad but keep on trying.

I listen to traditional Christmas on channel 147 but, my husbands radio doesn’t have 147 and he really wants to find the station that offers that on his radio. Phone calls and emails have given us no help!

December 6, 2011 at 1:46 pm
(66) Sammy says:

I am so glad you carry it on through New Years Day, and it just doesn’t stop the day after Christmas as it does with commercial radio. Keep up the great work. I really love my Sirius radio all year round.

I’m fine with playing all the Christmas music you list, but how about playing traditional Christian Christmas Music? He is the Reason for the Season after all, and that is what Christians celebrate. :)

November 20, 2012 at 9:36 am
(73) joni forrest says:

Sure would like a Christmas music channel dedicated to Christian themed music….not a bunch of Rockin around thee christmas tree and Jingle bell rock stuff….that’s awful. There are plenty of Gospel and Contempory Christian artists who sing about the Real Reason for the Season. Thanks

December 2, 2012 at 8:53 am
(74) Carole says:

We are loving the 40s 50s Christmas music. Would also love Boston Pops and other like Mannheim Steamroller, Andre Rieu, Andre Bochelli, even a little country and if Jonathan and Charlotte have a Christmas song. guess since we’ve lived from the 40s to now enjoy a lot. but please keep a lot of those old songs prominent in the mix. repeating over and over gets a little tired when there’s so much variety available.

December 22, 2012 at 3:39 pm

Might as well just play Hindu music for Christmas it would be contemporary with customer not service.

December 22, 2012 at 4:07 pm

I am listening to Country Christmas 80 & 90′s. It is free on my Dish network. I would love to hear a song I haven’t heard yet. It is a beautiful Christmas Song. God Bless and Merry Christmas.
Every time I hear this song it reminds me that God gave us the most special gift. His son to save us. Please play the song. Thank you!
