'Balloon Boy' Story Has Been Goldmine for Morning Radio Shows

The "Balloon Boy" story has been a godsend to radio shows everywhere, especially morning shows. This is the kind of story that has everything: drama, humor, stupidity, criminality, and something else: a traceable history. Thanks to sites like YouTube, reporters and bloggers have been able to research and share a condensed audio/video history of Richard Heene, the father and mastermind behind the balloon hoax, and his amusing family. Plus, this is also the kind of news item that inspires the professional humor services whose job it is to provide radio personalities with parodies, skits, and bits on a daily basis. Balloon Boy, Balloon Mom, and the whole family cast has been a gold mine of show prep for people who do morning shows, like me.

If you'd like to hear some of the work that comes from a professional radio service, visit the American Comedy Network, one of the country's oldest and longest running show prep services. There is plenty of online audio and video spoofs that anyone can access without being a radio station subscriber.

Interested in what Radio is really like? Radio is a magnet that attracts nut jobs, psychos, and loons. And that's just management! Let me give you the lowdown.
