Clear Channel Radio's foray into digital media is beginning to show results. Launched 5 years ago, it's online and on-demand streams now includes 850 including niche music and genres, news, traffic, and other content.

Clear Channel announced today its "active, unique monthly audience across all of its digital properties now numbers 22 million, according to data from Omniture, Inc."

The company also notes for some of it's AM and FM properties, "...online and mobile phone listening now amounts to an additional 15% in total listeners beyond the AM/FM broadcast."

Two million unique users have downloaded the company's iheartradio application for iPhone, iPod Touch, and BlackBerry. iheartradio users are listening an average of 99 minutes-per-week through the software. 360 Clear Channel radio stations now stream through iheartradio.

Clear Channel Radio owns and operates over 800 traditional radio stations serving almost 300 markets, including 89 of the top 100 markets.

The Clearchannel Iheart app is a great idea but I know people that downloaded it and don’t use it because it is so bandwidth intensive and keep buffering. Its too complicated and unreliable. How many people actually use it after they downloaded? There are no numbers on that are there? Its too complicated.

i use it a lot. yes, it does buffer excessively if you’re on a cell tower, but connected to a wifi signal like i have in my house and like we have at work, it’s the clearest streaming radio app i’ve listened to.
