Corey–
This story is a reminder of how things slip away. Already radio is rather homogenized, canned etc. I understand the economics of it. I’d do the the same I guess. There is silver lining I believe.
Some people, many I think, want the funkiness, idiosynchrosies and variation local radio and its personalities bring. My prediction and hope is that terrestrial radio will fade into a Muzak ether and that internet radio, at home, car, and cell phone will take over. Barriers to entry are low. In fact, if the incoming administration brings back the “fairness” doctrine, I have not doubt that money will flow into vehicle-based internet radio. I’ve seen some stories (from you I think) about this nascent technology. Amazon’s Kindle would be a great platform perhaps.

All this says to me there is hope for quirky, local, homespun talent. And if it is good enough, it can scale up worldwide.

What’s your take on this?
