John Gibson to Replace Bill O'Reilly's 'Radio Factor'

Follow me on:

Reuters is reporting that John Gibson, who formerly hosted his own program on Fox New Channel, has been tapped to take over Bill O'Reilly's daily radio show when O'Reilly leaves early next year.

A report at washingtonpost.com says: "Gibson, who anchored a program on Fox News until late last year, will begin 'Gibson on Fox' on January 19. He joined Fox News in 2000 from MSNBC and NBC News, where he was a talk-show host and reporter."

Thinkprogress.org reports this news with a bit of disdain: "...Gibson gained notoriety for mocking the death of actor Heath Ledger...[and]...Among Gibson’s other crowning achievements: declaring a 'war on Easter,' advocating Karl Rove be rewarded with a medal for outing Valerie Plame's status as a CIA covert agent, and fighting to maintain an Anglo majority in the United States."

A report published at radio-online.com by Fox News Radio notes: "Fox News Executive VP Kevin Magee said, 'The John Gibson Show' has shown a strong following with the news talk audience and we are confident that our affiliates will find Gibson on Fox as a strong alternative to The Radio Factor.'"
