Not all radio contests work out the way they're envisioned. Take this one from WXLC in Waukegan, Illinois.
The station offered a chance for some woman to go on a date with a guy named Travis Harvey who is 46. Harvey was promoted as a "great guy" - but it turned it he might have been less than one.
The woman, 24, is suing Harvey and the station's owner, NextMedia, because she claims Harvey raped her while on their date. According to WLS-TV, Harvey "...pleaded guilty this week to sexually assaulting the 24-year-old woman."
But, is this an open and closed case? Look at some of the blog comments left at the 7News website:
- "...the rape didnt happen during the set up date. it happened afterwards of thier own setting up so how is the radio station even remotely responsible."
- "Is the radio station responsible for doing a through criminal background check?"
- "The person at fault here is the rapist. But how can you not hold the radio station partly responsible?"
