XM Satellite Radio Does Major Shuffle on Programming Lineup

Wednesday November 12, 2008
XM Satellite Radio announced in a mailing today a new lineup of channels. The new offering includes: "...new commercial-free music, like Bruce Springsteen's E Street Radio and the Grateful Dead Channel, more comedy channels like The Foxxhole produced by Jamie Foxx and Blue Collar Radio, and more sports, including NBA play-by-play."

Besides the new channels, XM has renamed and moved some older, popular channels to new channel locations and in some cases just moved previous channels to new channel numbers.

XM says: "If you previously preset your favorite channels, all of your presets will automatically redirect to their new locations."

See it Online: You can see the new changes online at www.xmradio.com.

X Country is gone. I listened to Outlaw Country this morning. It is OK but not as good as X Country. Contact XM and ask them to put X Country back. They are receptive to feedback.

(7) JBilla says:

I have to say I am extremely dissapointed, XM 65 The Rhyme was one of the main draws for me. Stations like that keep Raw Hip Hop culture alive and is a reminder of how colorful and imaginative the music can be.
It was actually cool to listen for what was next as far as underground acts. I simply refuse to settle listening for a real Hip Hop joint and having suffering through a majority of wack T-Pain and 50cent tracks on any other Hip Hop Station. If it was not for the classic R&B,Alternative and Jazz stations I might actually unsubscribe. I still think I might. Bottom line dont go to Sirius XM for good hip hop music. Expect them to be like all other stations playing crap solely from the top 100, if that. Im getting more mad as I write this. I think I will cut my subscription! If there are any online True Hip Hop Stations on the digital waves please let me know! Thanks – JBilla

(8) John says:

XCountry was my favorite music channel. Outlaw radio does not cover Xcountry’s playlist. It was alternative country not rebel country. I am disappointed and I am considering whether I need XMSirus radio.

(10) Jeff says:

They need to bring back xcountry. The new outlaw country (outhouse country) Really sucks. The djs act like they are 8 years old and try to cater to people that are retarded like them. Hope every one like me cancels there xm

(11) Dave says:

X COUNTRY WAS THE ONLY GOOD REASON TO HAVE XM RADIO! Guess I’ll have to cancel my subscription and buy the music that I like to hear, instead of what they are force feeding me!

(12) X Country says:

The loss of x country is national tragedy. During this time of change we shouldn’t have to sacrifice our musical souls. The loss of x country is disheartening and is another threat to my LIBERTY.

Once I found x country it took a year for me to realize there were other channels on xm!

(13) camo says:

We have an XM contract….nice to know of channel changes….found out only after noticing some of the preprogrammed channels were different. Trying to find them was useless, trying to find ones similar to them was useless, and not getting any kind of notice in writing from XM or Sirius as to the changes and what they would be was pretty low. You’d think they might give a hang about the subscribers since…gee…they are the ones paying for the service….and without them they won’t have any service to offer. Thanks XM for the notice of the merge and thanks Sirius for letting us know of the new channels.

(14) Bonnie White says:

I have been a subscriber to xm for over 4 years both at home and in my car the ONLY STATION that I listened to was X COUNTRY.
I DO NOT LIKE THE REPLACEMENT OUTLAW COUNTRY!!! I will be canceling my subscription to Satallite Radio if X Country is not put back on. If I had of wanted to listened to that crap I would have subscribed to Sirus not XM. They do play some of the music from X Contry but a lot of stuff I can turn on corporate radio and not pay for if thats what I wanted to hear. I am SO PISSED AND DISAPOINTED IN xm satallite RADIO!!#@#$$!!

(15) Vic Vescovo says:

X Country was almost always tuned in on my radio. I was always jotting down the name of cool songs and artists so I could purchase. Drive By Tuckers, Pear Ratz, Paul Thorn…all heard on X Country and purchased….and now these guys may never be heard…or bought. Shame on XM.

I really REALLY dont like what I see comming to me on XM . The new stuff does nothing for me . I wont keep my subscription if it doesnt change back .

(20) George says:

X Country was “where country is going.” Outlaw Country radio is where country has been. It’s a phony concept that is easily seen through and very irritating. It’s not XM, it’s FM. I don’t need to keep my subscription to listen to these songs. I recent the fact that some programmer thinks we want to hear “talent” put on phony hick accents and talk to us about how much they drink. Even if you want to listen to the music, you can’t get the “hicks” to shut up and play it.

November 18, 2008 at 11:55 pm
(21) Codedog says:

There was so much to love about X Country. Rogue calls, live at XM, 9 volt with Dave Alvin, live concerts and a lot more. I live in south Texas, so I have heard many of the artist before. But I would probably never heard Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, Southern Culture on the Skids, The Reverend Horton Heat and so on if not for X Country. How could they not see how unique of a channel this was? I hope they come to thier senses and bring back X Country. And soon

(22) Richard Krause says:

What the hell is going on? No notice of any changes? Fifties station (#5) now is playing Bee gees, and 1969 Neal Diamond, With Cousin Brucie? Then you wipe out Country stations? and ‘Escape’ ( #78) just disappears? Frankly to Quoate the Garbage mouth Howard ..trash mouth …Stern…THIS SUCKS! gET IT BACK TO WHAT IT WAS OR CANCEL ME OUT ALL 4 RADIOS!

(23) Down Home N.C. says:

X-Country, XM12 was the only station for me. I was given credit for an additional month to see if I can adjust to the new lineup. I mostly listen online (computer). I have found a couple ‘free’ online radio sources I like – Pandora and also Slacker. They do not have X-Country but their other options are better than the new lineup. I’m gone! Good Luck to fellow X-Country fans.

(24) L. BUXTON says:

THANKS FOR STICKING IT TO US AGAIN IN RADIOLAND. XCOUNTRY IS A SERIOUS LOSS TO US AND WE WILL BE CANCELLING SUPSCRIPTIONS OF OVER 4 YEARS (3 OF EM) DUE TO THE LOSS OF THE BEST STATION ON AIR. WE HAVE PURCHASED MANY OF THE ARTISTS CDS SINCE LISTENING TO XCOUNTRY AND TURNED FRIENDS ON TO THEM ALSO.DOESN’T LOOK LIKE THAT WILL BE HAPPENING ANY MORE WITH THE PRESENT LINE UP ON XM/SIRIUS RADIO.

December 3, 2008 at 9:52 pm
(25) Cheryl says:

I was shocked to find that my X Country has been changed to some Nashville idiot’s idea of what alternative country is…I will cancel my subscription if they don’t bring back X Country…it was the reason I subscribed to XM and the station I listened to 90% of the time. I am so angry I just don’t want to give these crap program directors any support or $$$$$ Pissed off in So. Cal

December 30, 2008 at 8:21 pm
(26) sam phillips says:

I have been a subscriber for both family cars, since 2003. Outlaw Country is totally disastrous. I can hear talk show country for free. You need to bring back XCountry. That was a great idea and a very unigue show.
Thanks for listening, and please make the change back.

(27) Laurie O'Connor says:

The elimination of X Country motivated us to drop 1 of our XM/Sirius subscriptions, and we are “siriusly” considering dropping the other. Please, please–those of you who also miss X Country, the True Ch. 12, please sign and submit the petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/BBXM12/
