Your idea sounds good on paper .the fact is how many stations are really locally owned and operated .How many stations even have people that know or care about the community they have a tower with a computer connected to it cranking out the hits .Lets face it ,its going to take more than a website to bring people back .Radio revenues are falling like newspaper revenues because people are beginning to realize they arent being served. Its sad but there isnt one local station i listen to that i call my own .Im thankful for the internet where i can find the programming i want to hear .Consultants are what ruined radio .Theres nothing wrong with corporate ownership .What ruined radio was worrying about profits .Forgetting about who listened and what their needs were is what they did to the audience .Heres 3 examples ,beautiful music ,jazz and classical .ive read what was said about these formats . I was drawn to the internet because there are stations that care more for their audience then they do a lousy dollar .when a station shows a commitment the audience responds .i know .
