New iPhone Radio App Will Connect to 60,000 Radio Stations

By October 7, 2008

Follow me on:

Radio for iPhone users is about to get even better. Tomorrow (10/08) RadioTime and Weather Underground will unveil WunderRadio - a new AM/FM and Internet radio tuner application for iPhone users. (Right: screenshot of the new RadioTime iPhone software. Graphic Credit: RadioTime)

Users will be able to use RadioTime to search for over 60,000 terrestrial and Internet radio stations in addition to accessing U.S. weather stations from Weather Underground.

If you're interested in police, fire and EMS calls, "scanner bugs" will monitor those frequencies as well.

I’m excited to try out the new iPhone radio app described in the article above, but I was looking for a complete local radio program, not over the internet, but an app that acts like a traditional terrestrial radio receiver. Have anyone heard anything on that type of app.

George, you’ve obviously never actually investigated the iphone properly. Yes, the iphone has radio hardware built into it, but it has not been “switched on” although in future firmware upgrades, it ‘could’ be switched on.

If your looking to connect with talk radio with this app forget it.

Politics must be involved with the channel selections….

Let me try to dumb this down. Is there a way to use the IPhone4 as a radio tuner to catch whatever broadcast stations are in the area…no apps; no internet. There now exist a million Internet sites which contain lists of stations you may down without the use of an Internet app. Remember…like old-fashioned radio. Does anyone know if the Iphone4 does this??
