Savaged: Talk Show Host Loses Stations, Advertiser

Friday July 25, 2008
There's always somebody in the line of fire in talk radio and at the moment it's Michael Savage. Savage has been harshly criticized by some for remarks he made about autistic children.

His recent thoughts included this: "You know what autism is? I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is."

Mediamatters.org reports Savage's show has been dropped from the 7 station Super Talk Mississippi Radio Network, and AFLAC, the insurance company, has pulled ads. Meanwhile, Talk Radio Network says Savage's syndicated show is heard on over 450 radio stations and his program reaches over 8 million listeners each week.

Once again the media only picks up on part of the story. Track down his comments and listen to them in CONTEXT. I heard the original broadcast and he is discussing his feelings that autism is over diagnosed.
