Last.fm Offers New Features for Listeners, Royalties for Unsigned Artists

Last.fm is making a big push to show users it is evolving. Now touting 5 million tracks, the service has been preparing for some time to release its new design and features.

The new design includes:
* A "Library" feature which allows the listener to add any song or artist to a customized library.
* "Instant Recommendation" - no longer does a user need to listen to music to build recommendations. A search for artists allows for quick music and event recommendations.
* "Real Time Chart Updates" - After listening to a song, charts on your profile update at once.

Last.fm is available online, on iPhone with the last.fm iPhone application, and on home stereos through a partnership with Logitech.

New Artist Royalty Program
Last.fm has launched its Artist Royalty Program. The program gives unsigned and independent artists the chance to earn royalties from their music direct from Last.fm every time their tracks are listened to on the site.

Artists can upload their music and sign up for the Artist Royalty Program at: last.fm/uploadmusic.
