New Survey Says FM Radio Listenership Still Tops MP3 Players

Sonoro Audio recently commissioned a survey on listening habits. 560 people surveyed spent 16,814 hours per week listening to audio entertainment. 57% of that time was spent with AM, FM, or Internet Radio.
* 39% of their time was spent listening to FM Radio
* 23 % of their listening time was using MP3 players/iPods
* 18% of their time was to CDs

No specific percentage for Internet Radio was released but according to Arbitron and Edison Media Research, "33 million Americans 12 and older listen to Internet radio stations during the week, up from 29 million in 2006."

Also not released were the particular demographics of the respondents who were questions for the survey.

Clear Channel Joins Forces with Reciva

Clear Channel and Reciva have reached an agreement to stream all of Clear Channel's radio stations on Reciva-powered receivers. U.S.-based companies that manufacture Reciva based Internet Radios include C. Crane, CTA Digital, DMTech, Grace Digital Audio, Sangean, and Tangent. An automatic upgrade allows existing radios to receive Clear Channel Radio stations.

Reciva Limited, based in Cambridge, England, desings and builds Internet radio modules for use with broadband applications. Reciva-enabled Internet radio devices can play back online radio in almost every format.
