Radio, Where Art Thou? Why Radio has Become a Little Less Exciting

Thursday May 15, 2008
I've had a bit of writer's block lately and at first I thought it was me. But, now I realize the reason I haven't been very inspired to write about Radio is because Radio is in the doldrums. (1) Richard Mitnick says:

I am glad that after your first paragraph you limited your complaints to terrestrial and satellite radio.

Internet radio, in spite of its problems with the Library of Congress’s stooges is alive and well and burgeoning. It may lack the Lone Ranger and Tonto, Sergeant Preston, Galen Drake, I Remember Mama, it may be mostly music. But that is really as much a reflection of the proliferation of genre specificity in music as it is a reflection of changes in radio.

Radio is still the medium where the most important thing one brings is one’s imagination.

Aggregators like Live365 and Shoutcast, Public Radio on the internet, all of this is growing by leaps and bounds.
