Big Ron O'Brien Was "Inspiration" to Many DJs

Radio personality Big Ron O'Brien has passed away. The announcement came Monday from 98.1 WOGL/Philadelphia where O'Brien had been doing afternoon drive. O'Brien worked at a host of great radio stations including KTLK/Denver, WQXI/Atlanta, WCFL/Chicago, WXLO/New York, WFIL/Philadelphia, WNBC/New York and others. Jim Loftus, the Vice President and General Manager of WOGL said in a press release, "Big Ron was an inspiration to disc jockeys all over the country. We all listened to the energy and excitement that he was able to bring to the radio. He will be missed by many fans. An air personality like Ron can't be replaced."

Big Ron O'Brien was 57. The station has announced a memorial service this Friday at 11 a.m. ET which will be webcast in real time on the Big Ron O'Brien tribute page at wogl.com.
