What Makes You a Real Alaskan? Getting Your Morning Show Suspended!

Wednesday April 16, 2008
"Woody and Wilcox", the morning show on KBFX 100.5-FM in Anchorage, Alaska, has been suspended. According to adn.com, "On Tuesday afternoon, KBFX owner Clear Channel Communications suspended Woody and Wilcox "indefinitely' and ordered them to attend sensitivity training." Why?

Apparently the two were discussing things that make you a "real Alaskan". The conversation which prompted some complaints included: "Have you made love to the Yukon River and peed in a Native woman?" As adn.com noted this turned "...an off-color axiom inside out," which particularly offended one female who bitterly complained which began the mounting pressure toward suspension.

KBFX is also known as "The Fox" and targets male listeners.

Listen: You can hear 100.5 The Fox online at the station's website.
