Long Island DJ Suspended for Making White Trash Jokes

Saturday March 1, 2008
Imagine a radio personality getting in trouble! According to newsday.com: "A morning radio personality on Long Island station WBLI-FM has been suspended for making disparaging on-air remarks about the community of Mastic and refusing to apologize..."

The co-host, who goes by the name of "Randy," went on a riff of trailer trash jokes after a woman from the area won a free prize from the station on Wednesday."

Randy really went on a roll about Mastic "...making references to trailer trash, eating beans from cans and being toothless."

Some local civic groups are calling for Randy to be fired and for area residents to boycott the station.

Somehow, "white trash" references on the radio don't seem to rise to level of controversy we used to have to deal with before Howard Stern went to SIRIUS and Opie & Anthony went to XM. Oh, well....

106.1 BLI as it refers to itself claims it is "Long Island's #1 Hit Music Station on the Web". You can listen here.

Famous Suspensions:
* Sacramento Morning Radio Show Suspended Over Death of Contestant
* L.A. Morning Host Bill Handel Suspended 1 Week for On-Air Verbal Skirmish
* Don Imus Suspended for Two Weeks from Radio Show
* Legendary British DJ Tony Blackburn Suspended
