Radio Message to U.S. Ships Might Have Been a "Prank"

In regard to that recent confrontation between a U.S. Navy convoy and Iranian Revolutionary Guard fast boats in the Strait of Hormuz, it appears a portion of the incident might be attributable to a radio prank, of sorts. As the boats buzzed a U.S. ship a voice over the radio said, "I am coming to you...You will explode after...minutes."

According to npr.org: "A VHF radio scoundrel dubbed 'The Filipino Monkey' might have been the source of a grim warning to a U.S. navy warship during last week's confrontation...[and] U.S. officials aren't sure where the voice came from, but the phenomenon of 'The Filipino Monkey' has been around for decades."
