State Fair Ready to Nix Radio Station's Erotic Corndog Eating Contest

Wednesday October 3, 2007
Des Moine Classic Rock station, 95KGGO (KGGO-FM) is fighting to keep its "Erotic Corndog Eating Contest" alive. According to desmoineregister.com, the 4-year-old Iowa State Fair event might be a goner. One fair board member says the competition "...tends to draw a raucous and appreciative crowd, [and] is too tasteless..."

The article reports "Iowa State Fair Board President Jerry Parkins on Monday suggested getting rid of the contest, so state fair staff will tell KGGO’s organizers that it’s inappropriate..."

Steve “Round Guy” Pilchen, a personality at 95KGGO says he's not surprised at the turn of events but will fight to keep it.

"Competitors — so far it’s only been women, and all were required to be at least 18 — are given 30 seconds to demonstrate erotic techniques on the staple state fair treat," says desmoineregister.com

Online: Listen live to 95KGGO.

Other Ways How Eating Has Gotten Radio Into Trouble:
