Webcasters Making Progress Over Royalty Issue

According to a an Associated Press story by Seth Sutel, the discussions over new Internet Radio royalties is making some progress. Sutel writes, "John Simson, the head of SoundExchange, a music industry group that collects royalties from digital broadcasters and distributes them to artists and labels, said he is optimistic about reaching an agreement soon with public radio stations, possibly by the end of September."
Sutel says, "Last month SoundExchange reached an agreement with a group representing online companies such as Yahoo, AOL and Pandora to cap the per-channel fees that broadcasters would pay..."
