The Radio Version of "War of the Worlds" First Panicked America in 1938

The long anticipated "War of the Worlds" remake starring Tom Cruise opens in theatres June 29. But, did you know a radio play of the same H.G. Wells' story ushered in a national panic on October 30, 1938? A radio broadcast masterminded by Orson Welles caused many people in the United States to think we really were being invaded by Martians.
